Princess Diana

Princess Diana was not much of a drinker but when she did, her go-to was peach bellini – a blend of prosecco with peach purée. She was said to be drinking them the night she sneaked out of Kensington Palace disguised as a man with Queen’s lead singer Freddy Mercury. Their destination – the famous London gay club Vauxhall Tavern.

The queen mother

It was no secret that during her lifetime the queen mother loved her daily gin and Dubonnet made with three parts Dubonnet, seven parts gin and a splash of lemon. And according to the book, Behind the Throne: A Domestic History of the British royal Household by Adrian Tinniswood, the queen mother would have gin and Dubonnet before lunch, wine with her meal, a perfectly mixed martini before dinner and a glass of champagne chaser.

She lived to 101 years old, so she must have been doing something right.

What 7 things will Queen Elizabeth never eat or drink?

The Queen

Like mother like daughter, Queen Elizabeth also loves a glass of gin and Dubonnet before lunch and sometimes before bed. The queen is often seen sipping a glass of champagne at official dinners, and she is said to sometimes enjoy a glass before bed too, however, she was overheard last summer while at the National Institute of Agricultural Botany as saying, “I don’t actually drink wine myself, but I hear it’s very good.”

Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Sussex mentioned on her former lifestyle blog The Tig that she loves tignanello, an Italian blended red wine. She is said to enjoy nothing better than a glass of red wine at the end of the day.

The princes

Prince William and Harry and grandfather Prince Philip are all partial to beer. Not surprising as pints are traditionally the favourite tipple of Brits. Prince Philip is partial to Boddingtons bitter and Prince William has been seen downing Guinness and lagers.

But during Harry’s party days, his favourite cocktail was the treasure chest, according to Mahiki nightclub. The drink features coconut rum, pineapple and lime.

Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge has been seen drinking Guinness as her go-to beer when out with her husband Prince William, but insiders say Kate is partial to cocktails and wine. While on a visit to Mission Hill Winery in British Columbia in 2012, she reportedly revealed that at home she typically drinks merlot. And her go-to cocktails are those that feature her favourite whisky, Jack Daniels.

The younger royals are said to occasionally frequent Boujis, a bar near their home in Kensington, where she orders crack baby, a cocktail of vodka, passion fruit purée and champagne, according to sources.
